Birthline of Loveland:

Birthline of Loveland is a 501(c)3 non-profit, Christ-centered Pregnancy Resource Center.  We are a ministry of compassion, hope, healing, resources, and support for women and couples dealing with an unplanned pregnancy, and other related pregnancy-related issues. We provide emotional, informational, and material resources to our clients.  We are establishing northern Colorado’s first Maternity Home to serve pregnant women in our region who otherwise would be homeless. 

Founded in 1981, Birthline is an affiliate of Heartbeat International.

 

Birthline is seeking a Resident Advisor for its Maternity Home:

Birthline of Loveland is seeking a positive, multi-tasking, spiritually-nurturing, relationally mature, live-in Resident Advisor to serve at Birthline’s Maternity Home.  The position will be compensated with room & board; the hours required at the house will be evening, night, and early morning during weekdays, and full days and nights every other weekend (the other weekend would be off).  The basic responsibilities will be: security and maintenance of the house, coordinating meals and chores, discipline as required, and personal investment in the Residents. 

 

Successful applicants will show fulfillment of these requirements in a cover letter and resume:

  • A committed Christian with willingness to sign Birthline’s Statement of Faith.

  • A strong commitment and dedication to the pro-life position and to sexual purity. 

  • A clear understanding of and commitment to Birthline’s vision and mission for their Maternity Home.

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.

  • At least one year of course work, ministry, or non-profit experience with vulnerable populations and/or care of newborns (preferred).

  • A teachable spirit for learning the intricacies of the ministry. 

  • A heart for serving women who have experienced difficult life circumstances so as to offer love, care, and emotional and spiritual support.

  • A general knowledge of running a household with healthy family dynamics and a willingness to patiently teach and share the basics. 

  • Capability of providing leadership and spiritual guidance. 

  • Modeling relational and spiritual health in situations of crisis or intensity. 

  • Ability to work with online and physical (security system) technologies. 

  • Experience in coordinating events and social gatherings.

  • Passing of a Background Check, Level 2.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Create a safe, welcoming, home-like environment and culture of hospitality towards Residents, volunteers, and all who visit the Maternity Home.

  • Work with each Resident with care and non-judgment while maintaining reasonable, healthy boundaries.

  • Guide and encourages Residents to embrace Rules, Responsibilities, and Expectations outlined in Resident Handbook.

  • Assign household duties to keep Maternity Home clean, uncluttered, and organized, including the Residents’ personal spaces.  

  • Work with Residents to plan healthy, nutritious meals and snacks. Post calendar of designated days which Residents are involved with the preparation of meals.

  • Ensure kitchen and pantry are well-stocked with essentials. 

  • Check all interior and exterior doors at night and set the alarm after curfew hours.

  • Monitor use of phones/internet/social media.

  • Monitor activities of the home and behavior of moms and their babies. 

  • Teach/enforce guidelines for use of shared space and household appliances, washer, dryer, etc. 

  • Enforce consequences as necessary, and with consistency.  

  • Maintain and update accurate notes of MH activities, conflicts, and occurrences.

  • Notify Birthline Executive Director (ED) when major conflicts or incidents occur, and forward documentation and potential follow up reports needed.

  • Orient new Residents to the house, rules and protocols, and expectations. 

  • Work with the Program/Volunteer Coordinator to ensure there is coverage at the residence, 24/7. 

  • Attend monthly MH Steering Team meetings as scheduled to share progress, needs, and concerns.

  • Meet with Birthline MH Team (Family Advocate, Program Counselor and other key volunteers) on a weekly basis for prayer, encouragement, support, and to share needs and concerns.

  • Follow all common procedures and protocols established in RA Handbook and Birthline’s Policies & Procedures, calmly and professionally.  

  • Maintain confidentiality of all Residents during and after their stay at the Maternity Home.
